Vanishing America

This is my new friend, Holt Webb looking very laid back in his Winnebago which was parked just off the I10 freeway in Baytown, TX. Holt (along with his two kitties and massive free weights) plans to travel the country as part of his project, Vanishing America. You can check out his travel log here.

He is truly amazing and my parents and I were lucky enough to have had dinner with him Monday night. We took him to a El Toro and I was so nervous about meeting him, I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon which was both horrible tasting and unnecessary since he was so nice and easy to talk to. (Note to self: Stick with margaritas when eating Mexican food.)

My mom was impressed when we started our photo-speak…Tossing around terms like “dragging the shutter” and RGB versus sRGB color spaces. He also thought my taking over 600 shots as a backup wedding shooter was conservative(!)

In other news, I assisted Sarah at a bridal shoot yesterday at a beautiful (and huge) church downtown. We went from setting up Speelites on light stands, to professional strobes, back to Speedlites. The radio slaves she rented were acting up so there was an element of panic involved before I decided to distract the soon-to-be bride’s parents by talking a little football. We shared our indifference regarding both Super bowl teams while Sarah quickly fixed our lighting problem and we were off and running. As usual, it was a super fun shoot!
