I’m official now!

I’ve dabbled in a lot of things in the past few years. I did a lot of spinning my wheels before deciding my new career would be selling things on the Internet. Things I made and things I bought, cleaned, and then resold. I did a lot of research and read a lot of books. I learned to how to write copy and take snap shots. I pretended to care about the quality of my wares, but I really didn’t. I was more concerned with marketing them and making money. I organized and took inventory daily. I had boxes full of novelty pencils and vintage figurines in every corner of our apartment. Rolls of brown paper and bubble wrap nearly reached the ceiling.

This went on for over a year until sells slowed to crawl and I simply lost interest. I failed to keep up with the latest trends and hot sellers and never made it to any garage sales before 9:00 or 10:00am. But somewhere in the process I realized I loved to write. And I didn’t mind if it was just a paragraph or two about why you should purchase one product over another. I just wanted to write for a living.

So about a year ago, while sitting at my desk with big hopes and dreams of becoming a writer, I began poring over the course schedule of the local college. Something happened that day. Let me take a moment to say that I don’t like to throw around words like “epiphany”. I like to save them for special occasions. But on that day I had a full-blown epiphany, and it came to me just after the word Philosophy and right before the words Physical Education. It was, of course, typed in the same size and font as the other course names, but it struck me in the same way it would if someone had planted a billboard on my front lawn with blinking lights that read:

PHOTOGRAPHY!

Fast forward to today. My name is Cara and I love all photography, but am interested in lifestyle portraits. Mainly of babies, children, and pets! When I’m not taking portraits, I work part time walking an adorable Cockapoo, named Pierre and a Labradoodle, named Collette. When I’m not doing that, a very talented and nice wedding photographer named, Sarah, lets me follow her around at weddings and take photos of whatever I want. And I get paid too!
